Match Report 27.1.08
Hornsea U7 & U8 v Goole, Malton & Norton RUFC.

The Hornsea under 7 and 8’s had their biggest squad turnout for the matches at the Hollis Recreation
Ground this weekend.
Eleven players turned up and even with regulars George Hems and Cameron Yorke Missing today, we are
getting ever closer to being able to field a full team in each age group.
The squad of Alex Morris, Declan Fletcher, Brandon Legget, George Webster, Brandon Hirst (playing his
first Game), Emma Naylor, Jack Rawson and James Wilkinson played in the Under 8 Category with the
younger members of William Marshall, Ben Copley and Oliver Young all having their first competitive
matches playing with Goole in a mini Under 7 game.
With another couple of prospective young players watching for the first time today, there is a positive
outlook for the future of Hornsea RUFC from the very base of the club.

Hornsea U8 Versus Malton & Norton.
Score Hornsea 0  Malton 4
The Hornsea players did not seem ready for the first match and were beaten by a good Malton side and
after falling behind by three tries in the first half pulled them selves together at half time before letting only
one try in during the second half and being halted by the sixth tackle several times when close to the
Malton line.

Hornsea U8 V Goole
Score Hornsea 1 Goole 5
Hornsea Try Brandon Legget
Again in the second match Hornsea started poorly and let in several easy tries but as before pulled them
selves back with some great tagging by Brandon Hirst, playing his first match for the club and some
attacking runs by George Webster. The only Hornsea try came from Brandon Legget who ran right from
our own half to score a great try. The Players still kept to their task as the Goole side, who are the best
side we have met this season, were only kept from scoring tries by some great tagging by the whole team.

Hornsea U8 V Malton
Hornsea 2 Malton 3
Hornsea Tries Jack Rawson & Declan Fletcher
This was a much better performance from the Hornsea team who scored first through a quick try by Jack
Rawson before Malton pulled back a try and the game settled down. Some great attacking by the Hornsea
players allowed Declan Fletcher to score and put Hornsea back in front before Malton again scored to
level the game. Both sides were desperate for the victory and Malton had the last say as they scored in
the corner to grab the victory.

The Hornsea players again showed spirit and determination in the matches and at no point let their heads
drop. We do have some things to work on though before the next matches on the 17th of February at
Hessle RUFC
