HORNSEA RUN OUT OF TIME

HORNSEA  19     NORTHALLERTON  24

Hornsea produced a much improved performance against Northallerton in a game they should have won,
however, three sloppy trys conceded to the opposition in the first half cost the Hollismen dearly.
Northallerton opened the scoring following a quick penalty, Hornsea soon back on level terms with a try
from prop forward Roger Mclatchie who crashed over from five yards from the back of the ruck.
Northallerton then scored two trys in quick succession following some poor tackling by Hornsea.

Hornsea needed to get the first score in the second half, but against the run of play, a speculative break
by the Northallerton number eight saw him pass out wide for the winger to score in the corner.  Hornsea
finally got their act together and for the next thirty minutes dominated the game.  Trys for Martyn Pace and
Jonty Ashton brought the Hollismen to within five points of Northallerton.  The Hollismen thought they had
drawn level as
winger Steve Crook raced for the corner only to trip over his knee support on the five meter
line.  Shortly after
Martyn Pace appeared to have scored but the referee had different ideas and
disallowed the try.  Hornsea threw all they could at Northallerton in the final five minutes but were unable to
breach the line and eventually they ran out of time.
