OUTSTANDING HORNSEA

YORKSHIRE FOUR

HORNSEA  67     KNARESBOROUGH  3

In their final home league game of the season, Hornsea produced their best performance of the campaign
as they battered Knaresborough by 67 points to 3, which included hat-tricks for Martyn Pace and Rob
Porter.  Hornsea’s leading try scorer Martyn Pace opened the scoring out wide after five minutes following
some slick handling by the backs.  Knaresborough were awarded a penalty shortly after the restart on the
Hornsea twenty two which their full back skilfully converted.  From this point Hornsea dominated the game,
Rob Porter got the first of his three trys on the fifteen minute mark as he powered his way over the line
following some excellent forward work, Hellstrom converted.  Steve Crook added to the Hornsea tally with a
break from his own twenty two fending off two would be tacklers to score in the corner.  Just before the
interval, Pace finished well following a fine break by Rich Hellstrom which he in turn converted.

Half Time       Hornsea 24      Knaresborough

The floodgates opened in the second half as Hornsea scored a further 43 unanswered points.  Rob Porter
scored his second try of the game straight after the restart following a kick charge down, with the number
eight on hand to touch down, Hellstrom converted.  Hornsea’s dazzling young winger, Adam Waller, scored
the next try as he finished well showing power and pace to score in the corner.  Waller scored again five
minutes later following a fine side step and hand off to cap an excellent performance.  Hornsea centre Rob
Wells then got on the scoresheet as he crashed over the line from fifteen yards out following some crisp
passing by the backs.  Rob Porter completed his hat-trick on the seventy minute mark peeling off the back
of a maul close to the Knaresborough line, Hellstrom converted.  Steve Crook then got his second try of
the game as he was on the end of a pass from Joe Mclatchie after the winger had made forty yards with an
excellent break, Hellstrom converted.  The final score of the game saw Martyn Pace complete his hat-trick
as he side stepped his way over the line, with Hellstrom converting.

This superb all round team performance by Hornsea showed what they are capable of as they climbed to
joint fourth position in the league table.
