HORNSEA  5              BEVERLEY 2nds  29

Hornsea produced a strong performance against a Beverley side, who certainly knew they had been in a
game, with the home side going down by 26 points to 5.  Beverley included five players with National
league Three experience as their 1st team had no fixture but Hornsea more than coped with them.
Beverley opened the scoring after just six minutes following some intense rugby with their number eight
crashing over the line, try converted by Mike Killgannon.  Hornsea hit back almost immeadiately through a
try from debut winger Adam Waller.   The Hornsea pack won the ball, as they did most of the game in the
tight and scrum, and when the ball reached the backs a clever run by Rich Hellstrom put Waller in space
who used his pace to outsprint his opposite man to the line.  The rest of the half was a pretty even affair
with Beverley adding a further try to take a 12 points to 5 lead at the interval.  Beverley added three trys
after the break, but Hornsea did not let their heads go down, as they continued to frustrate their
opposition.  Hornsea captain Jim Richardson was pleased wit his sides efforts, and spoke shortly after the
game, “ We stuck to our gameplan and played some decent rugby, Beverley were obviously worried by us
as they included five players with national league rugby experience, and when they kicked for goal in the
2nd half they showed they were concerned by the score”.
