NATIONAL JUNIOR VASE ROUND 3

CASTLEFORD  53                HORNSEA  3

Hornsea bowed out of the national junior vase on Saturday as they were comprehensively beaten by
Yorkshire Three league leaders Castleford by 53 points to 3.  Castleford were a very strong out fit and
look a good bet for promotion to Yorkshire Two, and Hornsea were not able to compete with their power
and speed.  The pleasing aspects of the game for the Hollismen were the scrum and lineout, where they
held their own against a very well drilled side.  Speaking shortly after the game, Hornsea assistant coach,
Kim Baish said, “ We knew we were going to be up against it at Castleford, and to be fair, the better side
won, however, we did not disgrace ourselves and we produced plenty of positives to take forward to next
week’s league game away at Leeds Corinthians.  It was pleasing to hear from the Castleford coach that he
was impressed with our pack, and I am sure we will bounce back with a victory next week”.
