YORKSHIRE FOUR
STOCKSBRIDGE 3 HORNSEA 15
In atrocious conditions, it was Hornsea who came out on top by 15 points to 3 thanks to their forwards who
completely dominated their opposition, and by doing so secured their Yorkshire Four status for next
season. Playing against the elements in the first half it was Stocksbridge who opened the scoring with a
well struck penalty by their fly half following Hornsea being penalised at the ruck. For the rest of the half
Hornsea showed immense commitment from one to fifteen as they out played their opponents. On the
twenty minute mark, following some great work by the forwards, Dave Johnson touched down after being
driven over the line by the pack. Hornsea increased their lead on the half hour mark through number eight
Rob Porter who again drove over from close to the line following some powerful work by the Hornsea
forwards.
Half Time Stocksbridge 3 Hornsea 10
Hornsea continued to dominate throughout the second half and were camped in the Stocksbridge twenty
two for most of the half. Scrum half Chris Watkins scored on the sixty minute mark, again following
excellent work from the forwards and right wing Mark Coates, to kill the game off for the Hollismen.
This superb team effort by Hornsea saw them eradicate any relegation fears, with their commitment and
enthusiasm being the key to this excellent victory which saw them complete the league double over
Stocksbridge for the first time since the introduction of league rugby.
